Narrow-minded and conventional September 12, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is squarely aimed at young adults who already have some experience of sex and orgasm - anyone older or who has more deep-seated difficulty than this is somewhat dismissed in the first chapter. She concentrates mostly on very conventional female attractiveness and conventional heterosexual intercourse. Anyone who does not fit this mould is likely to finish the book feeling even more abnormal and inadequate than they did to start with. Please buy a book by Betty Dodson or Suzi Godson instead. They are much more inclusive and open-minded.
Not much more than a hardback magazine April 26, 2004 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
As a pre-orgasmic woman who has NEVER had an orgasm I thought this mightbe a nice little book to start with. Tasteful looking, funny, quotes fromreal women, and at just over 140 pages long I thought "just what thedoctor ordered". Its author Kate Taylor is a regular sex columnist for GQmagazine and unfortunately that's just how the whole book read. There isnothing extra in here that you couldn't get from a few issues ofCosmopolitan magazine. Everything is general and all lacks depth. Theparagraphs where Kate encourages you to boost your self esteem isadmirable and nicely written, but we're not all cosmopolitan girls and Ido not want to be told "clean hair is sexy"! The text on women's sexualresponses is brief, and there is little or no reference to any sexualresearch throughout the book. Also a lot of the book is useless to me, sections on advanced orgasm tipsand simultaneous orgasms are no good if you can't get past the firsthurdle. Overall, if you are just looking for a quick read, that's funny and coverslots of things without going into depth then this is the book for you.Ifyou already read mags like Cosmo, Marie Clare or even More magazine on aregular basis you probably won't learn anything new

I thought this book was a real scream.. Very well written with just the right amount of comedy, good advice and just right to loosen the inhibitions.. my new partner seems pretty pleased......
