A bit long winded August 20, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I truly feel like the whole of this book could be cut to like 12 pages as i've learned three quarters of it from other compiled sources which have taken this material and cut it down to about 6 to 8 pages. However, it's probably worth the price of admission for the more advanced stuff that you won't find in other places, so over all, good book...should of been shorter.
great stuff November 8, 2006 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
scary tingling sensations running all over my body (at work) after a few weeks diligently practising, thought I was losing my mind. Persevered though and hope to master the techniques pretty soon.
A great introduction to rare information December 24, 2004 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is a great insight for anyone interested in the Taoist healing arts by one of the world's foremost contemporary Taoist masters. It is the first book written by Mantak Chia and its aim is to provide information on how to open the microcosmic orbit (MO). The MO is a preliminary exercise for higher Taoist yoga but has considerable healing effects on by its self. I would recommend this method for anyone wishing to embark through a discipline of beneficial meditation. However, the main failing of this book is that the instructions are not always well organised or detailed enough. The reader may be left with some uncertainties. The answer may often be in the text but locating it may not be so easy. In later books Chia's writing style has greatly improved on these points and so I would recommend accompanying this book with some of his other material which involves the MO to get a better feel and understanding for it.

this book provides a full introduction to circulating the microcosmic orbit, a fundamental chi kung technique. the text is clear and the instruction easy to follow. highly recommended, even for diligent self-study. i have also been fortunate enough to meet the author, and his seminars are very valuable.
Outstanding Taoist practices book. January 5, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Being a martial arts practicioner of both the internal and external schools this book proved to be an excellent introduction to the Taoist arts. For the experienced practitioner there are differnet views and perspectives which will add to your knowledge and help make your practice more complete. For the beginner this is an ideal book to start out in the Taoist way of life. In summary a book for everyone.
